THE IMPACT OF OUR VOLUNTEERS

When you choose to volunteer for the Aga Khan Foundation, you join an established organization of national and international volunteers that are dedicated to helping improve the quality of life of those in need, mainly in Asia and Africa, irrespective of their origin, faith, or gender.

Your time, knowledge, and expertise help raise awareness about the foundation’s work amongst your friends, colleagues, and social networks here in the USA and help build capacity and financial resources that strengthen our programs and projects for the poorest and most marginalized people in the world.

The results over the last 50 years have been remarkable, allowing individuals, communities, and societies to break through the poverty cycle and create self-reliant lives for themselves, their children, their grandchildren, and in some cases, their great-grandchildren. This is the power of our volunteer network working with the Aga Khan Foundation!

WHAT YOU CAN DO AS A VOLUNTEER

In the USA, the Aga Khan Foundation has strong teams of volunteers organized by seven regional areas throughout the country.  Each regional team is led by a Chair and Vice Chair who work closely with the National Committee and our staff to implement various local events and initiatives. When you join a regional team based on your location and interest, you will be designated a role that helps organize or promote any of the following:

  • Golf Tournaments
  • Fundraising Dinners
  • Giving Circles with Entrepreneurs
  • Professional Lunch and Learns
  • Women’s Power Luncheons
  • National Youth Art Competition
  • Youth Ambassador Volunteer Activities (Dallas region only)

We sometimes seek volunteers to join our Special Task Forces which are created periodically to address specific strategic projects that are driven by the head office and our national volunteer committee.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. Depending on the role and commitment, our student volunteers can earn community service hours.

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

If you would like to become a volunteer in your local area or are interested in volunteering for special projects, please email rd.akfusa@akdn.org and share the following information: full name, address, CV, and how you heard about AKF.  Students should also share their school’s name and current grade or educational level. We will connect you to your regional volunteer representative who will contact you to discuss a suitable volunteer role.

Hear from our Volunteers!
