As part of AKF’s work fostering civil societies, we strive to create opportunities for women to gain equal footing and to narrow the gender gap in the labor market.
To see this work in action, let’s take a look at this workshop in Gilgit-Baltistan that is solely run by women carpenters.
The workshop members are participants in AKF’s Women Social Enterprise program that currently employs over 90 young women in seven technical trades, including carpentry, masonry, and architectural services.
Offering much more than just financial gain, the program allows women to complete their education and vocational training, support their families and carve out a better life.
