Amid the expansion of online learning opportunities in recent years, AKF’s award-winning platform, The Learning Hub, is filling an important gap.
The Learning Hub’s unique offerings distill decades of AKF experience, combining the expertise of development professionals and the communities they serve with global best practices, and it’s available to anyone, for free, in more than 30 languages.
Since the launch in 2022, the site, which has more than 450 learning resources, has attracted 50,000 learners from more than 190 countries. Content has grown to include a wide range of video-based and blended learning courses, how-to videos, toolkits, documents, and podcasts.
Topics address AKF’s focus areas, such as Work and Enterprise and Climate Resilience, with practical real-world examples that can be applied in almost any setting.
Learners span the professional spectrum from community leaders and entrepreneurs intent on organizational development, to teachers looking for learning materials to promote gender equity and climate resilience, and lifelong learners interested in adding a certificate or an accredited course to their profile. The number of externally accredited courses continues to grow.
Some of the most popular courses include “Climate Challenge: Be Part of the Solution”, “Facilitating Adult Learning” and “Proposal Development”.

As a measure of its success, in 2024 The Learning Hub was awarded Gold in the “Blended Learning” category by the International E-learning Association, Bronze in the “Technology for Good” category of the Global Good Awards, and was a Finalist in the “Learning Technologies Organization of the Year” category of the Learning Technologies Awards.
AKF practitioners add new material regularly, which is helping to turn The Learning Hub into an important reference for professionals seeking high-quality, locally relevant, practical learning content in the development sector.

The latest offerings include immersive 360-degree videos in which viewers can accompany children on their walk to an AKF-supported preschool in Utange, Kenya or visit Khedi village in India where AKF is building climate resilience and food security.
