LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, OCTOBER 29, 2015. On Thursday, October 29, scores of golfers drove the green while investing in long-term solutions to improve quality of life for communities around the world. The annual Aga Khan Foundation Golf – Los Angeles tournament, held at the Pelican Hill Golf Club, raised more than $80,000 for programs of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) that mobilize communities around the world to build better futures. 100 percent of net proceeds from the tournament and all donations go directly to projects supported by the Aga Khan Foundation.

Previous L.A. golf tournaments have raised $100,000, and organizers expect this year’s event to raise more, given enthusiasm from golfers and sponsors across the metro area including national sponsors The Coca-Cola Company and Pioneer Finance. 100 percent of net proceeds from the tournament go directly to projects supported by the Aga Khan Foundation.

The charity tournament attracted high-level corporate executives, civic leaders, and local celebrities. Among those in attendance includes Neel Grover, Founder and CEO of Indi.com. “AKF has been on the ground for nearly the last 50 years, building permanent institutions, making long term investments and cultivating local leadership. And, AKF has always worked to create that spark,” remarked Grover. Golfers help communities in some of the poorest areas of Africa and Asia improve their quality of life. Contributions make a tremendous impact in creating locally driven opportunities for girls in Afghanistan to attend school, farmers in Mali to feed their families, and mothers in India to lead healthy lives. These efforts that build flourishing economies are the cornerstones of a thriving community.
