DALLAS, TEXAS, APRIL 2, 2015. Today 150 golfers drove to the green while investing in long-term solutions to global poverty. The golfers raised an estimated net $170,000 for programs of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in the eighth annual Dallas Partnership Golf tournament, held at the Cowboys Country Club in Grapevine, Texas. The event is an initiative of the Foundation to raise awareness and funds for ending poverty and helping communities around the world build better futures together.

Organizers thanked the enthusiastic golfers and sponsors across the metro area including national sponsor The Coca-Cola Company. 100 percent of net proceeds from the tournament go directly to projects supported by the Aga Khan Foundation.

The charity tournament attracted high-level corporate executives, civic leaders, and local celebrities including Dallas Cowboy legend and Hall of Famer Charles Haley, the only player in NFL history to win five Super Bowls, who mingled with the golfers. Amongst other prizes, winners of on-course contests received Apple Watch, iPad Air, gift certificates and golf bags.

“The golfers were thrilled to participate in a fun-filled day of playing golf while simultaneously supporting AKF’s work of helping eradicate global poverty,” Chairperson of AKF Volunteer Team for Central U.S. Farida Khemani said. “Of course, the spectacular weather was bonus to the amenities provided by the golf course.”

Local CBS radio station 105.3 broadcast their show from the tournament. Golfers helped communities in some of the poorest areas of Africa and Asia improve their quality of life. Contributions make a tremendous impact in creating locally driven opportunities for girls in Afghanistan to attend school, farmers in Mali to feed their families, and mothers in India to lead healthy lives.
